about the site

Futz.tech is a blog that celebrates old tech, vintage computing and just generally trying to keep devices out of landfills. It's longing for the days of the Old Internet, better manuals and more user accessibility. This blog is many things, I suppose, but mostly it's about having fun.

about the author

Hi! I'm tinsmith. This is my site.

I have worked a variety of jobs in a variety of industries, but those aren't particularly important, are they? It's really about what I learned along the way.

If a love of learning is at the heart of who I am, then a desire to figure out how things work is my soul. This is, of course, a dangerous combination that results in an endless list of interests, too many hobbies to keep up on and piles of electronic junk waiting to be repaired or repurposed. Whenever something catches my attention, I dive in with every resource I have. When a device breaks, I take the screws out and try to put the ghost back in the machine. It's all great therapy, to be honest.

Curiosity. Growth. Honesty. These are my keys to life.

Life at a Glance

I am married to a wonderfully talented lady who bakes magical cookies and creates beautiful dresses. Currently, I work as an industrial service technician with a specialty in PLC troubleshooting. In the future, I'd like to transition into a more nomadic career as a freelance tech writer or remote tech support since my dream of exploring the world and teaching myself things until I die won't pay my bills.
